Prof. Cong Wang is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science, City University of Hong Kong. He serves/has served as the Editor-in-Chief for IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computing, associate editors for IEEE Transactions on Services Computing, IEEE Internet of Things Journal, IEEE Networking Letters, Journal of Blockchain Research, and TPC co-chairs for a number of IEEE conferences and workshops. He is a fellow of the IEEE and a member of the ACM.

Research Staff

Yuefeng Du, Postdoc

Yuefeng receives his BSc degree at City University of Hong Kong in 2018. His research interests include applied cryptography, blockchain, and network security.

In his leisure time, he enjoys exploring numerous topics: cognitive science, AI for NLP, cosmology, and management science. He likes playing chess and his favourite game is Capitalism II.

Haiwei Wu, Postdoc

Haiwei received his B.S, M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from University of Macau, in 2018, 2020 and 2023, respectively. His research interests include multimedia forensics, computer vision for social good, and low-level imaging.

In his leisure time, Haiwei likes competitive games, e.g., the board game "Legends of the Three Kingdoms", and aerobic sports such as hiking. Stay healthy!

Shengchen Ling, Research assistant

Shengchen received his B.Eng. degree in Computer Science and Technology at Northeastern University in 2022, and the M.S. degree in Electronic Commerce at City University of Hong Kong with Distinction in 2023. His research interests include blockchain security and privacy, consensus mechanisms, and DeFi.

In his spare time, he enjoys cycling and hiking.

Yilong Yang, Research assistant

Yilong received his B.Eng. degree at School of Cyber Engineering at Xidian University in 2019. He received the National Scholarship * 2 and Tencent Excellent Scholarship. His research interests include Security of Machine learning and Federated learning.

In his spare time, he enjoys hiking and traveling.

Xinjing Liu, Research assistant

Xinjing Liu received her B.S. degree in Internet of things from Xi'an University of Technology in 2020. Her research interests cover machine learning in cyber security and intelligent system security.

In her spare time, she enjoys sports such as hiking, badminton, and running. Recently, she enjoys photography.


Postgraduate Student

Yufei Chen, PhD student

Yufei received the B.Eng. degree and the B.Man. degree from Xi'an Jiaotong University. Owing to his outstanding academic performance, he has been awarded the National Scholarship (2017, 2018, and 2020) and the Cyber Security Scholarship (2019). He also worked as a research intern at Qihoo 360 in 2018. He is interested in trustworthy machine learning and behavioral biometrics.

Xiangyi Meng, PhD student

Xiangyi received his B.Eng. degree from Xiamen University in 2018. He received the National Scholarship in 2015 and the first prize of the 6th Huawei Cup National Undergraduate Intelligent Design Contest in 2016. During his undergraduate, he worked as a compute architect intern in NVIDIA Shanghai for 4 months. His research interests include but are not limited to data privacy, cloud security, hardware-assisted security, and differential privacy.

In his spare time, Xiangyi likes to play table tennis and soccer and also work out at the gym. Singing is also one of his huge hobbies. He is currently trying to enhance his Cantonese to a daily communication level.

Mingyue Wang, PhD student

Mingyue received the B.Eng. degree with the Department of Computer Science and Technology from Harbin Engineering University in July 2018, and is currently a 3rd-year Ph.D. student in the HITSZ-CityU Joint Ph.D. Program. Her current research interests include cloud computing security, applied cryptography, and blockchain technology.

In her spare time, Mingyue loves hiking and playing badminton.

Anxin Zhou, PhD student

Anxin received the B.Eng. degree from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2018. His research interests include blockchain, cryptography, and distributed system.

In his spare time, he enjoys tennis, fitness, and swimming.

Zhengxiang Zhou, PhD student

Zhengxiang received his B.Eng. degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen in 2019, and he is currently a 3rd-year Ph.D student in CityU. He is interested in binary security.

He likes swimming, and enjoys computer geek activities.

Xiang Zheng, PhD student, CityU Presidential Scholarship

Xiang Zheng obtained his Master degree from Department of Automation at Tsinghua University in 2019, and recieved his B.Eng degree with the "highest honor" from SHENYUAN Honors College (formerly known as School of Advanced Engineering) at Beihang University in 2016. His main research area is robust meachine learning, especialy in area of adversarial reinforcement learning, with the aim of designing robust and secure machine learning methods for various AI applications, like zero-sum multiplayer games, space robot control, etc. He was the recipient of the Presidential Award in 2020 at City University of Hong Kong.

Table tennis is his favourite sport.

Yichen Zang, PhD student

Yichen received his B.Sc. degree from the School of Computer Science, Wuhan University. He was awarded the honorary title of Outstanding Graduate of Wuhan University. He is interested in studying Network Security and Mobile Security.

In his spare time, Yichen loves reading and hiking. He also enjoys traveling with friends.

Zheng Zheng, PhD student

Zheng received her B.Eng. degree from Wuhan University in June 2019 with the specialty of Information Security Engineering, and is currently a 3rd-year Ph.D. student in the CityU-WHU Joint Ph.D. Program.

Zheng loves watching movies and singing. She also enjoys meeting with different people and making new friends.

Peipei Jiang, PhD student

Peipei received her B.Eng. degree from Wuhan University in June 2019 with the specialty of information security, and is currently a 3rd-year Ph.D. student in the CityU - WHU Joint Ph.D. Program. She received the Excellent Freshman Scholarship for Postgraduate (Outstanding Award, top 1%) in WHU, 2019 and the National Scholarship in 2017 and 2018.

Peipei loves cats.

Yanling Wang, PhD student

Yanling received her B.Eng. degree from Wuhan University in June 2019 with the specialty of Computer Science and Technology, and is currently a 3rd-year Ph.D. student in the CityU - WHU Joint Ph.D. Program. She received the IBM China Outstanding Student Scholarship in 2019.

In her spare time, Yanling loves boxing. She also enjoys eating out with friends.

Wentao Dong, PhD student

Wentao received his B.Eng. in Computer Science at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2018. He received the Academic Excellence Scholarships every academic year. He has been working as software engineer (or intern) at Tencent, Intel, Sangfor, as well as research assistant at LoCCS and CityU. He is interested in “applicable & pragmatic” Privacy Enhancement Technologies recently, as well as AI, Blockchain, Cryptography.

Currently, he enjoys fitness, cycling, and hiking.

Rui Lian, PhD student

Rui received the B.Eng in Cyber Security at Communication University of China in 2019, and the M.Sc in Computer Science at City University of Hong Kong in 2020. She is interested in building secure decentralized applications with the help of trusted execution environments and cryptography.

In her spare time, she loves movies and fitness.

Xinyan Li, PhD student

Xinyan received her B.S. degree from South China University of Technology in 2019, and the M.S. degree from City University of Hong Kong with distinct honor, all in Computer Science. Currently, she is a Ph.D. student in the Computer Science Department at City University of Hong Kong. Her research interests include searchable encryption, differential privacy, and deep learning.

Xinyan loves doing puzzles, hiking, and reading. She also enjoys meeting new friends from different cultures and backgrounds.

Yiyin Zhang, PhD student

Yiyin received her B.S. degree from Beihang University in 2018 with the specialty of Information and Computing Science, and was awarded outstanding graduate from Beihang University. Currently, she is a 4th-year Ph.D. student in the CityU-UCAS Joint Ph.D Program.

In her spare time, she enjoys cooking.

Sirui He, PhD student

Sirui received his first Bachelor's degree at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2015, when he was 15. Though he once focused on algorithms, he found his interest in ISA and system level security during his second undergraduate period in Zhejiang University. Currently he is trying to build hardware and binary defenses in a more algorithmic approach.

Sirui creates classical music in his spare time, and loves to hang out with friends for anything.

Leqian Zheng, PhD student, HKPF winner

Leqian received his B.Sc. degree at the City University of Hong Kong in 2021 with first-class honours. He received the Hong Kong Ph.D. Fellowship in 2021. His research interests include but are not limited to searchable encryption, differential privacy, and hardware-assisted security.

Currently, Leqian enjoys playing CS:GO and hiking. He has kept three cats since 2020.

Zizhuo Chen, PhD student

Zizhuo Chen received his B.Eng. degree from School of Computer Science at Wuhan University in July 2021. His research interests include AI security and data security.

Zizhuo loves photographing and making videos.

Yi Liu, PhD student

Yi Liu received his B.Eng. degree from Heilongjiang University in 2019. He was an intern at Tencent Jarvis Lab. His research interests include but are not limited to security and privacy in machine learning, federated learning, and AIoT.

Yulong Ming, PhD student

Yulong Ming received his BSc degree at University of Science and Technology of China in 2022. His research interest is network security.

In his spare time, Yulong is a FLOSS enthusiast believing that even once is help. He is also a GitHub active code contributor (myl7) with over 1k contributions per year and a Linux fan running Arch Linux for everyday use.

Ningping Mou, PhD student

Ningping received his B.Eng. degree from Wuhan University in June 2021 with the specialty of cyberspace security, and is currently a 3rd-year Ph.D. student in the CityU - WHU Joint Ph.D. Program. He graduated as an outstanding student from WHU in 2021 and received the National Scholarship in both 2018 and 2019.

Ningping loves bodybuilding and history.

Yuchen Liu, PhD student

Yuchen received the B.S. degree from Wuhan University, Wuhan, China, in 2021. He is currently a 3rd-year Ph.D. student in the CityU - WHU Joint Ph.D. Program. He won the Lei Jun Computer Scholarship of Wuhan University during 2022-2023. His research interests include AI security, explainable AI, and recommendation system.

During his free time, Yuchen loves singing and dancing. He also likes playing PC Games.

Longxiang Wang, PhD student

Longxiang received his B.Eng. degree from Wuhan University in 2023. His research interests include machine learning security, particularly in LLM, and autonomous driving security. Currently, he is a 1st-year PhD student at CityU.

In his spare time, Longxiang enjoys playing badminton and watching movies.
