Prof. Cong Wang is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science, City University of Hong Kong. He serves/has served as the Editor-in-Chief for IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computing, associate editors for IEEE Transactions on Services Computing, IEEE Internet of Things Journal, IEEE Networking Letters, Journal of Blockchain Research, and TPC co-chairs for a number of IEEE conferences and workshops. He is a fellow of the IEEE and a member of the ACM.

Research Staff

Yufei Chen, Postdoc fellow

Yufei holds dual Ph.D. degrees from the City University of Hong Kong and Xi'an Jiaotong University, and also earned both his B.Eng. and B.B.A. degrees from Xi'an Jiaotong University. He also worked as a research intern at Qihoo 360 in 2018. He is interested in trustworthy machine learning and behavioral biometrics.

Yuefeng Du, Postdoc fellow

Yuefeng received his B.S. degree with First Class Honors (2018) and Ph.D. degree (2022), both from City University of Hong Kong. He is currently a postdoc researcher at City University of Hong Kong. His research interests include secure system design, network security, blockchain, and more broadly application of cryptography. He is a member of IEEE.

In his leisure time, he enjoys exploring numerous topics: cognitive science, AI for NLP, cosmology, and management science. He likes playing chess and his favourite game is Capitalism II.

Tao Ni (Tony), Postdoc fellow

Tony received his Ph.D. from the City University of Hong Kong, his master’s degree from ANU, and his bachelor’s degree from SJTU. His research interests include cyber-physical systems security, side channels, and mobile computing.

In his spare time, Tony loves watching football games, reading history books, and sleeping.

Haiwei Wu, Postdoc fellow

Haiwei received his B.S, M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from University of Macau, in 2018, 2020 and 2023, respectively. His research interests include multimedia forensics, computer vision for social good, and low-level imaging.

In his leisure time, Haiwei likes competitive games, e.g., the board game "Legends of the Three Kingdoms", and aerobic sports such as hiking. Stay healthy!


Postgraduate Student

Xiangyi Meng, PhD student

Xiangyi received his B.Eng. degree from Xiamen University in 2018. He received the National Scholarship in 2015 and the first prize of the 6th Huawei Cup National Undergraduate Intelligent Design Contest in 2016. During his undergraduate, he worked as a compute architect intern in NVIDIA Shanghai for 4 months. His research interests include but are not limited to data privacy, cloud security, hardware-assisted security, and differential privacy.

In his spare time, Xiangyi likes to play table tennis and soccer and also work out at the gym. Singing is also one of his huge hobbies. He is currently trying to enhance his Cantonese to a daily communication level.

Yichen Zang, PhD student

Yichen received his B.Sc. degree from the School of Computer Science, Wuhan University. He was awarded the honorary title of Outstanding Graduate of Wuhan University. He is interested in studying Network Security and Mobile Security.

In his spare time, Yichen loves reading and hiking. He also enjoys traveling with friends.

Xiang Zheng, PhD student, CityU Presidential Scholarship

Xiang Zheng obtained his Master degree from Department of Automation at Tsinghua University in 2019, and recieved his B.Eng degree with the "highest honor" from SHENYUAN Honors College (formerly known as School of Advanced Engineering) at Beihang University in 2016. His main research area is robust meachine learning, especialy in area of adversarial reinforcement learning, with the aim of designing robust and secure machine learning methods for various AI applications, like zero-sum multiplayer games, space robot control, etc. He was the recipient of the Presidential Award in 2020 at City University of Hong Kong.

Table tennis is his favourite sport.

Wentao Dong, PhD student

Wentao received his B.Eng. in Computer Science at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2018. He received the Academic Excellence Scholarships every academic year. He has been working as software engineer (or intern) at Tencent, Intel, Sangfor, as well as research assistant at LoCCS and CityU. He is interested in “applicable & pragmatic” Privacy Enhancement Technologies recently, as well as AI, Blockchain, Cryptography.

Currently, he enjoys fitness, cycling, and hiking.

Xinyan Li, PhD student

Xinyan received her B.S. degree from South China University of Technology in 2019, and the M.S. degree from City University of Hong Kong with distinct honor, all in Computer Science. Currently, she is a Ph.D. student in the Computer Science Department at City University of Hong Kong. Her research interests include searchable encryption, differential privacy, and deep learning.

Xinyan loves doing puzzles, hiking, and reading. She also enjoys meeting new friends from different cultures and backgrounds.

Rui Lian, PhD student

Rui received the B.Eng in Cyber Security (Major) and B.S. in Journalism at Communication University of China in 2019, and the M.Sc in Computer Science at City University of Hong Kong in 2020. She has been working as software engineer (or intern) at Xiaomi, Sangfor, as well as research assistant at CityU. She is interested in building secure decentralized applications with the help of trusted execution environments and cryptography.

In her spare time, she loves movies and fitness.

Leqian Zheng, PhD student, HKPF winner

Leqian received his B.Sc. degree at the City University of Hong Kong in 2021 with first-class honours. He received the Hong Kong Ph.D. Fellowship in 2021. His research interests include but are not limited to searchable encryption, differential privacy, and hardware-assisted security.

Currently, Leqian enjoys playing CS:GO and hiking. He has kept three cats since 2020.

Sirui He, PhD student

Sirui received his first Bachelor's degree at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2015, when he was 15. Though he once focused on algorithms, he found his interest in ISA and system level security during his second undergraduate period in Zhejiang University. Currently he is trying to build hardware and binary defenses in a more algorithmic approach.

Sirui creates classical music in his spare time, and loves to hang out with friends for anything.

Yi Liu, PhD student

Yi Liu received his B.Eng. degree from Heilongjiang University in 2019. He was an intern at Tencent Jarvis Lab. His research interests include but are not limited to security and privacy in machine learning, federated learning, and AIoT.

Longxiang Wang, PhD student

Longxiang received his B.Eng. degree from Wuhan University in 2023. His research interests include machine learning security, particularly in LLM, and autonomous driving security. Currently, he is a 1st-year PhD student at CityU.

In his spare time, Longxiang enjoys playing badminton and watching movies.

Shengchen Ling, PhD student

Shengchen received his B.Eng. degree in Computer Science and Technology at Northeastern University in 2022, and the M.S. degree in Electronic Commerce at City University of Hong Kong with Distinction in 2023. His research interests include blockchain security and privacy, consensus mechanisms, and DeFi.

In his spare time, he enjoys cycling and hiking.
